Musical Pieces

This piece of music by Erik Satie [1866-1925] is from 1886. It is the first of a set of four Ogives.

An ogive is a curved or pointed shape that appears in various fields such as architecture, ballistics, and mathematics. In architecture, it refers to the pointed arches commonly found in Gothic cathedrals.

Satie was supposedly inspired by the shape of the windows of the Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris when composing the four Ogives.
